Former Reps member, thousand others dump PDP to APC in Gombe

A former federal lawmaker in Gombe, Alhaji Umar Suleiman, was a House of Representatives member under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), with thousands of his supporters.
Receiving the defectors in Bajoga, Funakaye Local Government Area, and Nafada local government Headquarters on behalf of Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Jatau, assured them of equal treatment, irrespective of when one enters the party.
According to the deputy governor, it was their performance that is wooing other people into the party, assuring that they would continue to meet the yearnings of the people in the state.
Jatau said, “For those of you who are coming into the party today, and even those who were already in the party, we assure you of equal privileges and rights. We want all the party members to be committed to ensuring that the party wins in the forth coming general elections.
“This administration acknowledges the existing two religions, Christianity and Islam,the three Senatorial Districts, of Gombe South, Central, and North as well as the Eleven Local Governments. We will continue to give each the needed conducive environment, rights and privileges towards the development of the state.”
On his part, Suleiman said they were attracted to the party by the gigantic projects executed by the APC led government in the state.
He said, “We have have come with thousands of our supporters, and shall put in our best to ensure the party succeeds.
“I came with thousands of his teaming supporters whom he considers as patriotic people of his area.”
He added, “We were attracted by exceptional leadership qualities of Governor Inuwa.
Also speaking, The Caretaker APC Chairman Gombe State, Mr. Nitte Amangal, while welcoming the defectors, debunked insinuations that they were attracted by resources, attributing the mass action to the effort of the state government.
He said, “The fact that defectors are trouping into the party is an attestation of the fact that the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya is transforming the state.”
