Gombe Council state Biennial Camp in Zambuk: Gombe Deputy Gov urges Boys Brigade to be sure, steadfast
The Deputy Governor of Gombe State, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, has charged members of the Boys Brigade to lead the vanguard of positive change with a view to piloting the nation out of the serious challenges that have stagnated the processes of development.
The Deputy Governor who was Special Guest of Honour at the ongoing Gombe State Council Biennial Camp of the Boys Brigade in Zambuk, Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area, urged them as youths, to be sure and steadfast in their behaviour and avoid any act capable of tarnishing the nations progress and killing their future.

Jatau charged them to adhere strictly to the objectives and lessons of the Boys Brigade by being godly and good citizens that could help other youths to the part of morality and pursuit of their future and career.
Drawing from Biblical references, the Deputy Governor noted that idleness should be discouraged amongst the youths, calling on the Boys Brigade to engage in economic driven ventures and teach their fellow youths the same, towards self reliance.

He advised them to shun negative use of the social media, rather for impartation of knowledge and other positive matters that would contribute to Nigeria’s cohesion and development.
Jatau who lamented that, in spite of the fact that majority of Nigerians are adherents of either Christianity or Islam, wondered why crime is always in the increase pointing out that we must shun hypocrisy if, we must serve God right and properly make intercession for an end to the nations woes.
He assured them that on the part of their administration they would continue to provide a platform for freedom of religion and any legitimate business venture for the betterment of the lives of the people.
In his address of welcome, the State President, Boys Brigade of Nigeria, Gombe Council, Dr. Adams Isa Borkono, explained to the gathering that Boys Brigade was founded in 1883 in Scotland, Glasgow, as an International, Inter denominational Christian youths voluntary uniform organization aimed at training boys to become God fearing, patriotic and reliable citizens.
He said the Boys Brigade which came to Nigeria in 1908, has a mission of advancing Christ Kingdom , instilling moral values, promoting habit and obedience, reverence, discipline and self respect, a holistic approach which he said, is aimed at developing the boy socially, educationally, physically and spiritually to reach their ultimate potential, making them useful to the society.
He noted that during their tenure, they reactivated the state council of patrons by investing Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya as Grand Patron, Deputy Governor as Patron, as well as created opportunities for training, while they also participated in national competitions where for the first time, Gombe Council emerged overall winner in National Bible Quiz Competition in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory among others.
Highlight of activities include inspection of Guard of Honour, and parade by the Special Guest of Honour Dr.Manassah Daniel Jatau, Deputy Governor of Gombe State, mounted by the members of the Boys Brigade.
