Gale of defections in Gombe APC: APC drifting – Japheth Philip

A former Chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Japheth Philip, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Gombe State.
Philip was an aspirant for Billiri/Balanga Federal Constituency, prior to the consensus that produced incumbent Victor Mela.
According to him, the All Progressives Congress both at the State and Federal have derailed from the path of democracy as required for justice to thrive.
Philip revealed that corruption and marginalisation have become the fulcrum of governance.
The Aspirant who was among the 15 prominent chieftains, with thousands of supporters that defected to the PDP, stated this in a letter of resignation made available to our correspondent on Sunday.
The letter addressed to the Chairman of APC Tal ward, read in part, “I write to inform you of my decision to resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Doing so became necessary because the APC led governments in Gombe State and at the centre have derailed from the path of democracy which is enshrined in justice, equity, and fair play. And have embraced nepotism, exclusion, marginalisation, repression and corruption as hallmarks of governance.”
“I can not continue to support a party and government that poses an existential threat to the corporate existence of Nigeria, and to the religious and cultural heritage of my people.
“In line with the foregoing, I have resigned my membership of APC, to enable me keep faith with my philosophy of promoting inclusive governance,” Philip added.
