NYSC North East skill acquisition centre to commence training in Gombe – official
The Director, NYSC Northeast Zone , Ladan Baba, says the skill acquisition centre located in the zone would commence operation soon.

Baba disclosed this when he paid courtesy call on the Commissioner for Youth Development and Chairman NYSC State Governing Board Alh Abubakar Musa as part of his working visit to Gombe State.
Baba said, “The visit was to intimate him (commissioner) on the plan of NYSC Management for initial take off of the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Centre, cited in Gombe State and the need to make it self sustaining.”
He commended the State Government for supporting the NYSC Scheme in the State, especially during orientation programmes and the provision of land for NYSC garment factory.
He also called on the State Government to provide land for agro-allied and State allowance to Corps members to serve as morale booster.
In his response, Alh Musa said the State Government is ready to collaborate with the NYSC to use the edifice effectively for training in the various skills, adding that the centre would be used to train a hundred beneficiaries in the first instance, drawn from the Local Government Areas of the State .

Meanwhile, in his address to the 2021 Batch B Stream II Corps members deployed to Gombe State, Baba gave an overview of the Scheme ,calling on them to pay attention to in particular, the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship and Programme in order to be self reliant and employers of labour.
“It is high time you stopped collecting money from your parents and guardians. Make your own money and add something to your degree by learning a skill,” he said.
He advised camp participants to take the Covid 19 vaccination in order to mitigate the spread of the virus. He called on all to ensure adherence to the Covid 19 safety measures.
Speaking on Community Development Service, Ladan maintained that it would run concurrently with the Primary assignment. He encouraged them to mobilize resource to execute viable projects in their host Communities in order to leave lasting legacies.

Ladan also warned them against using the social media platforms to spread fake news, adding that they should not speak to the press.
