Remains of late Safiya Hamma Barka buried amid tears
The remains of late Safiya, wife of Justice Gamma Barka were committed to mother earth, at their family residence at Rafelle Village, in Balanga Local Government Area.
The deceased, a retired nurse who served at the state Specialist Hospital and later at Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe died at the age of 62, after a brief illness.
The state Deputy Governor Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, a close family friend and neighbour of the Barkas appreciated all those who identified with them in their moment of sorrow.

He said, “Death is very painful but considering the recent state of insecurity bedevilling the country, characterized by kidnapping and incessant killing of innocent people, it should be a thing of joy if relations got to bury their loved ones.”
The Deputy Governor admonished that every human being has a specified number of years, and upon exhaustion of the time, one must return to his or her creator.

He appreciated God for the life of the deceased, and the lives she impacted while alive, having served the state and the nation as a nurse, and contributed to humanity as a committed housewife and mother.
In a sermon delivered at the funeral, Reverend Apollos Hassan of the ECWA Gospel Church,off Ashaka Road, Gombe, where the deceased worshipped until her death, the clergyman admonished that this life is a transition and death is imminent upon every mortal.
He took his text from Hebrews Chapter 9 verse 27, charging the gathering to thrive to live a righteous life in preparation for the judgement day.
Earlier, the Vice Chairman Waja DCC, Rev. Danladi Usman welcomed all the sympathisers and appreciated them for witnessing the funeral of their late sister, praying God to reward and grant them journey mercies back to their destinations.
