NYSC Gombe coordinator takes batch C stream I through cardinal programmes
The State Coordinator NYSC Gombe, Mrs Ada Imoni has taken Prospective Corps members through the four cardinal Programmes of the NYSC.
They are; Orientation Course, primary assignment, Community Development Service and the winding up and passing out.
Imoni made this disclosure during her briefing at NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp Amada, Gombe State.
She said, “The essence of the Service year is to encourage National unity and integration and enable Corps members confirm at first hand the many similarities among the good people of Nigeria.”
She charged them not to see the Orientation course as a waste of time, rather as an opportunity to mingle with their colleagues for nation building.
While urging camp participants to be security conscious, Imoni, said an internal patrol team made up of the Security Agencies on camp was in place to keep camp participants safe . She however appealed to all to know their neighbour and see security as everyone’s business.
On Relocation, Mrs Imoni, said Corps members in Gombe would be allowed to apply for relocation on two grounds; Health and Marital, adding that Corps members with serious ailments would be given instant relocation for proper medical care.
She also gave Stern warning to Prospective Corps members on the abuse of social media platforms.”Channel your grievances to constituted authorities on camp instead of dragging the good name of the Scheme in the mud. Any Corps member caught abusing the social media or granting interview to the press shall be dealt with, in accordance to the NYSC Act and Bye-laws.” She maintained
On adherence to Covid 19 safety measures,the State Coordinator emphasized on the need to observe it’s protocols of regular use of the facemask, washing of hands under running water, use of alcohol based sanitizer and observance of social distancing among other things.
She said the Covid-19 Vanguard and Covid-19 enforcement and implementation Committee would be on the look out for defaulters.
Commenting on appointment of Corps Camp Directors, she noted that it was an innovation of NYSC Management to enable them serve as liaison officers between NYSC Management and Corps members.
She used the medium to congratulate the 2021 Batch C Stream I Corps Camp Directors on their appointment and urged then to take their duties seriously.
The State Coordinator also warned them on use of anything other than the kit items issued to them by the NYSC ,adding that anyone caught using any kit item not issued on camp would be dealt with.
Platoon officers, Drill instructors and Physical Trainers were introduced to the Prospective Corps members and assigned to the various platoons.
