NYSC Gombe extends service of one, releases 1,800 others
No fewer than 1,800 batch B stream I corps members, have completed the compulsory National Youth Service Corps, with one asked to remain due to infractions and the other said to have died.

Disclosing this on Thursday, during the passing out ceremony of corps members, State Coordinator Ada Imoni, also advised the 1,800 to take advantage of the skills acquired through the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development as white collar jobs were scarce and for the lucky few.
“1,800 2020 Batch B Stream I Corps members passed out in Gombe State, out of which one Corps members had extension of service and one deceased,” Imoni said.

Our correspondent reports that four Corps members got State Honours award and thirteen others issued letters of commendation for outstanding performance during the service year.
Imoni who monitored the exercise in three local governments areas of Gombe, Kwami and Akko, noted that skills if put into good use would give them the leverage to face life after the service year.
She encouraged them to stay back and start up their businesses in the State,revealing that a lot of Ex Corps members had made Gombe State their second home, having established their businesses and married.
“I encourage those of you that are business oriented to stay back and make Gombe State a second home . Our doors are still open for you. Let us put our hands together to build a strong and United nation irrespective of our diversities,” she added.

While commending the outgoing corps members for their outstanding performance in Community Development Service and in particular, their participation in the NYSC Environmental Sanitation day and Health Initiative For Rural Dwellers, Marking the forty eighth anniversary of the scheme.
She said, “As you pass out of this noble Scheme today, I implore you to beat your chest as one who has keyed into the vision of our founding fathers to bring the desired change in our dear Nation.”
