State Congress: Gombe APC screening runs into the night
Chairman, Gombe State congress committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC),Dr. Danjuma Dabo, says the committee is yet to screen aspirants for the state congress election scheduled to hold on Saturday, adding that the process could run into the night.
Dabo made this disclosure on Friday, during a pre state congress meeting to smoothen activities ahead of the consensus arrangements.
Recall that earlier, the party in the state resolved to consensus arrangement of electing officials into the various offices.

Addressing the stakeholders, Dabo said the committee would complete the entire screening exercise before the commencement of the ratification of the consensus process at Pantami township stadium.
He noted that his committee was able to succeed with both the ward, and local government exercises owing to the cooperation of members of the members.
Dabo said, “we have conducted both Congresses (local government, ward) which is of course a prelude to what we are going to be doing tomorrow. We thank you all for making it possible to achieve all that we did.
“We are here on a two prompt assignment. This committee has been given the mandate not to only conduct the congress but to screen the candidate. Later tonight when the candidates are through with the governor we will expect them to come before us for screening.
“We are going to do that tonight even if the cock crows so that tomorrow we can start accreditation by am. If you are late we will not accredit you. For the big men here sleep very lightly. We are going to give every local government accreditation point so that it will be fast.”
Also speaking, Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, urged the stakeholders to ensure the smooth conduct of Saturday’s exercise.
Yahaya lauded the party faithfuls for their unflinching support, stressing that the same level of cooperation would make the state congress a success.
He said, “I therefore appeal to those who would not have a position in the state executive, to exercise patience and know that the government is mindful of his/her contribution for the party and we will ensure that everybody is carried along.
“I pray that this will be taken seriously and made use of. Based on the instructions and decisions of the party at the headquarters, everywhere, especially where the APC is in power, by listening to the instructions of the leaders on what should be done.
“We, however, pledge not to violate any of the pledges we made so that everyone will be carried along. Above all, we plead with everyone to be patient and support the process, for us to succeed.”
