Gombe APC ward executives deny alleged resignation
Ward executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Yalmatu Deba on Thursday, denied resigning following the current political tussle existing between the governor, Muhammadu Yahaya and Danjuma Goje, senator representing Gombe central.
Earlier, social media reports claimed the ward executives resigned in solidarity with Goje, stating that he was disrespected by the governor during the 5th November 2021 incident where it was alleged that the governor’s aides prevented his entry into the state.
Periscope reports that Yalmatu Deba local government is one of the constituencies Goje, the former governor of the state represents in the Senate.
Debunking the viral report, alongside the executives alleged to have resigned at the Party’s secretariat, Ali Kuri, Yamaltu/Deba APC Chairman described the story as unfounded.
He said, “This rumour making round is very funny and laughable, I have never seen or heard anywhere that a party exco from a ward re-signed their positions without the local government chairman not aware.
“Uptil this moment that am addressing you, none of the executive has officially informed me or the party, that they have resigned their positions, rather we have sat with all of them and they confirmed that they remain in their respective positions.”
Kuri described the purveyors of the resignation as desperate elements, noting that the local government is indivisible under the current governor.
“For this rumour to have emanated from the city it means we are have some desperate elements in the state politics and that is very bad, we expect all citizen to support the government of Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya who will drive the state to a greater heights.
“We remain in APC and in our positions, our exco in the whole of Yamaltu/Deba are intact and nobody has resigned his position,” Kuri added.
Also speaking, Publicity Secretary of the APC Moses Kyari said the alleged resignation was the pigment of the those he described as disillusioned about the party, adding that they were out to cause disaffection among the rank.
He noted that the party would mete punishment on the instigators of the rumour, stressing
He said, “We as a party have received a complaint from the local government that it was character assassination created by individuals who are disillusioned and want to cause disaffection in the party.
“After investigating the matter we shall take punitive action by going to court, to ensure that the people that decided to cause disaffection are brought to book.”
