Gombe gov inaugurates 25th Qur’an recitation competition in Dukku
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya has inaugurated the 25th Qur’an recitation in Dukku Local Government Area.
The competition was organised by the Ministry of Education for participants across the 11 Local Government Areas of the state.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, Yahaya said the competition was relevant for today’s society, noting that it was held in view of the benefit of the competition.
He noted that the state government would continue to support the event as a means of ensuring that youths acquired the right knowledge to impact society.
He said, “The recitation of the Holy Qur’an is beneficial to humanity in terms of helping to shape right human behaviour while providing the guiding principles for living.”
“The Qur’an is complete and reliable in terms of building a better society that promotes peace and harmony.”
While calling on all stakeholders, especially participants to ensure that what is acquired was applied to daily living.

He added, “If human could apply what they read and learnt from the Qur’an, the world will be a better place than what it was today.”
Speaking earlier, Ishiyaku Muhammad, the Coordinator, Islamic Religious Studies, Ministry of Education, explained that all the 11 local government councils had registered for the competition, adding that it was expected to end on Friday, Nov 26.
Represented by his deputy, Yakubu Ibrahim, Muhammad called on the judges to ensure credible contest to so that Gombe would presents her best contingents for national competition.
While urging the participants to engage in healthy competition, he called on religious organisations and philanthropists to complement government’s effort towards enriching the competition.
On his part, Kadi Inuwa, chairman of Gombe state Qur’an Recitation Competition Committee said the competition was an annual event organised under the auspices of Centre for Islamic Studies, Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto.
Inuwa said the competition was geared towards selecting participants who would represent the country at international contests.
He noted that the overall objective of the competition was to instill discipline and uplift the moral behaviour of Muslim youth.
He said, “For over the last 25 years of the competition in Gombe state, contingents from the state had done remarkably both at national and international levels.”
He stressed that Gombe state had produced over 30 winners at the national level and out of that number four contingents had represented the country at international level.
