NYSC official urges Gombe Corps members to focus on their chosen Skills for self reliance
The 2021 Batch ‘C’ Stream I Corps members deployed to Gombe State have been advised to take advantage of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme in order to make their millions and be employers of labour.
Speaking on Monday, during a one-day working visit to NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp Amada, Gombe State, Director North-East Area Office, Ladan Baba said the Scheme was established to encourage national unity, Integration and development.
He said Corps members mobilized and deployed to Gombe State were found worthy both in character and in learning and have also met the requirements for mobilisation into the scheme.
Speaking on posting after the orientation course, Baba said the scheme has four critical areas; Rural Infrastructure, Healthcare delivery, Education and Agriculture , and in addition, Corps members would be posted based on the needs of their State of Deployment.

He urged Corps members to take proper permission through the right channel before embarking on journey outside the State . He however discouraged unnecessary journeys and in particular travelling late .
Baba said, “Permission to travel outside the country can only be granted by the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim.”
While encouraging Camp Officials and Corps members to take the Covid-19 vaccination, he noted that it would be for their good.
“To guard against the spread of the dreaded virus , we should all be vaccinated.
“All must adhere to the Covid-19 safety measures within and outside the Camp in order to mitigate the spread of the virus,” he said.

Ladan, cautioned Corps members to be aware of scammers as they use the social media .
“No corps member should speak to the press or channel grievances through any social media platform. Abuse of the social media will not be tolerated,” he said
The number one Corps member in the Northeast, while encouraging Corps members to carry out Community Development Service Projects, advised them to initiate, mobilise resources and execute viable projects in their host Communities.
“Gold mine and other treasures of God are hidden in difficult terrains.”

Meanwhile, the State Coordinator NYSC Gombe, Mrs Ada Imoni was commended and given award by the Director North-East Area Office, Ladan Baba for prompt reportage of activities of the scheme and administrative qualities worthy of emulation.
