Water Resources Commissioner receives Gombe forum of Councillors
Gombe State Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Mijinyawa Yahaya, on Thursday received a delegation of councillors forum led by Yahaya Yusuf from Funakaye Local Government in his office.
The Magayakin Bangu who welcomed them warmly expressed delight over their visit, stressing that as councillors that they are the ‘ears’ and closest to electorates at the grassroot level.
He congratulated them also for been elected as councillors of their various wards, as representatives of the people in the state.
Yahaya also used the medium to applaud the efforts of Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for entrenching democracy and good governance at the ward level and also for an upward review in the remuneration of elected councillors, stressing that it is the first of it kind in the state.
He assured the delegation that his ministry would liaise with them, noting that no development project would be sited in their respective wards without their inputs.
The Sarkin Sulken Waja charged his guests to be fair and just to all electorates in their various wards and polling units, while expressing hope that they would deliver good governance and dividends of democracy.
“As it will boost your chances for re-election and sustain the legacies of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya,” Sarkin Sulken Waja said.
He assured the delegation of reaching all wards and villages with meaningful projects before the end of the first tenure of Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, adding that the current administration is committed to ensuring that development is felt by all.
