Fed Govt, Organisation engage stakeholders on selecting viable projects for implementation in their communities
The Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs in collaboration with Dashmi Nig Ltd have urged the general public to participate in the process of selecting projects to be implemented in their communities under the constituency projects programme
Mal. Lawal Umar consultant Dashmi Nig Ltd stated this in an interview with News men on Wednesday in Gombe shortly after the stakeholders forum and capacity building of North East zone on the implementation of Zonal Intervention Project (ZIP) constituency project.
“Constituency or Zonal intervention project are public projects nominated by Federal Lawmakers to extend the dividends of democratic government to their various constituency for speedy development at the grassroots.
“Therefore lawmakers were expected to provide their people with update on every project domiciled in their constituency,” he said.
He said the programme is an initiative of Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affaires which contracted Dashmi Nig Ltd to create awareness on the essence of constituency project and how to access it and stakeholders responsibility.
Umar said the ministry is being saddled with the responsibility of overseeing the implementation of the Zonal constituency project and the objective of implementing the programme was to ensure speedy development
He said the meeting has equipped the stakeholders ensure the right constituency was brought to them and to protect and safeguard the project as well as choose what project they want.
Participants who spoke at the meeting described the initiative as commendable because it will create public awareness on government activities and ensure people involvement in decision making process.
