Group alleges imposition of members into Gombe CAN exco
A group of Clergymen have accused the national officials of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), of masterminding chaos in Gombe State chapter of the Association.
The group bemoaned what it termed as imposition against the will of the delegates who turned out to elect their legitimate leaders on the 14th December 2021 at CAN Centre Dukku Road.
The spokesman of the group, Pastor Musa expressed disappointment over the incident meted out on the religious body describing it as devilish exercise.
Periscope Nigeria reports that there was serious confusion on Tuesday 14th December 2021, following the insistence of the CAN AGS and Legal Adviser to appoint their own blocs candidates.
The legal adviser allocated Chairman to her bloc (CSN) even when the bloc contested for Secretary, while AGS, OAIC bloc appointed his Yoruba brother (OAIC)who has been in CAN since Gen. Abacha’s regime as Secretary.
Pastor Musa and his group also vowed to disrupt the 22nd December 2021 sponsored Congress by some troublesome politicians from the opposition. He said they are mobilising massively to storm the venue, insisting that the meeting must not hold in that CAN Centre.
Rev. Joel Wakili, CAN Chairman Gombe State who was elected by the majority expressed disappointment over the incident, describing it as uncalled for.
Wakili said, “The other faction might have been sponsored to create confusion in Gombe State but God will take control.”
A member of the group, had accused the security agencies of shielding the national officials when majority of the delegates protested the imposition.
“But we cannot fold our arms and watch these impostors drag the reputations of CAN in the mud by a few individuals it seems the security agencies are turn deaf ears to what is capable of causing security breach in state,” he said.
