NYSC hails Gombe govt for augmenting corps members meal
National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has hailed the Gombe State Government for augmenting the meals served corps members currently participating in the orientation course in Amada Akko Local Government Area.
Disclosing this during the swearing-in ceremony of 1,566 comprising 618 males and 948 females, state coordinator Ada Imoni attributed the support as the propeller for the scheme’s success.
Imoni revealed that the Government has shown enormous solidarity to the scheme not only to food but in the provision of water.
She said, “The success story of NYSC Gombe State has gone far and wide that can only be attributed to the enormous love and support of His Excellency, Alh. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya. The continuous support of His Excellency to the scheme as it concerns augmentation of feeding of corps members and provision of water is appreciated immensely.”
While urging the 1,566 corps members to uphold the ideals of the scheme, the state coordinator noted that defaulters would be punished based NYSC act and Bye-law.
“Young compatriots, the NYSC is a regimented place where your movements and activities are kept under close supervision. I therefore, urge you to obey the rules and regulations stipulated for your conduct on camp and service year entirely.
“The orientation guide, NYSC act and bye-law have been put together to enlighten you on all you need to know about the scheme and pitfalls to avoid in order to have a successful service year. Endeavour to peruse every publication issued to you for your personal development,” Imoni added.
She stressed that Covid-19 enforcement committee under her stewardship would be on the lookout for defaulters, while urging corps members to adhere to Covid-19 safety measures.
Imoni said, “To be forewarned is to be forearmed. The facemask should be worn correctly and regularly by all camp participants. We have provided hand wash facilities, liquid soap and sanitizers around the camp.
“Anyone caught defaulting will be sanctioned. I urge the Covid-19 Vanguard to be alive to their responsibilities of sensitising participants and ensuring that everyone adhere strictly to the Covid-19 safety measures.”
On his part, Acting Chief Judge of Gombe State, Justice Muazu Pindiga, who administered the oath of allegiance on batch C stream II corps members urged them to be obedient without being slavish.
