Uphold NYSC ideals – Ikaka urges batch C stream II
The Director, Planning Research and Statistics, Alhaji Ahmed Wada Ikaka, has called on the 2021 Batch C Stream II Corps members deployed to Gombe State to uphold the ideals of the NYSC by promoting national unity and integration.
He said , NYSC Management is working assiduously to ensure the return of hosting Orientation programmes at NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp,Mallam Sidi, Kwami Local Government Area with the help of the State Government.
Ikaka, while encouraging them to serve selflessly,said the Scheme was established for the purpose of national unity and integration. He urged them to mingle and integrate well with members of their host Communities, Marry across cultures and establish businesses in order to be self reliant and Employers of labour.
” Respect the culture and traditions of the people of your host Communities. Do not see your culture as superior and you will enjoy your service year,” he maintained.
On Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme, Alhaji Ikaka admonished them to take the programme seriously and continue with the Post Camp training , adding that white collar jobs are scarce and for the lucky few.
He also cautioned them against the abuse of social media platforms , he also discouraged them from granting interviews to the press without the consent of Management.
While interacting with Staff after addressing Corps members, Ikaka, urged them to take their schedules seriously as to whom much is given, much is expected. “We must complement the effort of the Director-General , Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim by doing our bits as staff of this noble Scheme ” he added. Alh Ikaka, also interacted with Heads of Collaborating Agencies.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Ahmed Wada Ikaka was at the palace of His Royal Highness, the Lamido Gona, Alhaji Umar Abdulkadir Abdulsalam to condole him over the demise of his father,the Late Lamido Gona, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, who was a special friend of the scheme.
In his response, the Lamido Gona, Commended Alhaji Ikaka for the visit , he maintained that a lot had been said by his late father about Alhaji Ikaka , urging him to not relent in his effort of taking NYSC to greater heights.
He said, “You have written your name in gold in Amada and Gombe State at large . I pray God help you in your future endeavors” he said . He also conferred on Alh Ikaka, the traditional title of “Makama Babba na Gona”
Alhaji Ahmed Wada Ikaka was the 12th Chief Executive, NYSC Gombe State and the pioneer State Coordinator to host Orientation programmes at NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp Amada, Gombe State after two and a half years of dislodgement due to insurgency.
