Billiri killing not an attack on the community but farmer, herder clash- Govt official
Gombe State Government has said the recent clash was between farmers and herders in Kolok Kwannin and Pandin Kude communities of Tal District in Billiri local government on 29th December 2021 claiming that eight lives were lost.
Confirming this Commissioner for Internal Security and Ethical Orientation, Adamu Kupto explained that the clash erupted between farmers and armed herders who were migrating through the communities.
He denied that it was an attack as alleged by Tangale Community Overseas, Kupto recalled that there was information circulating on a planned attack on Billiri local government which informed government to take proper security measures.
According to him, “The current administration acted well during the yuletide by setting up joint task force across the state.”
While calling on the public to disregard the misinformation, the commissioner said the state government has concluded arrangements to provide relief materials to the affected people of the communities.
He said “The current administration as a responsible government will not relent its effort to ensure that peace is maintained across the state, adding that people of the state should not politicize issues of security.”
