The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Gombe State chapter is mobilising its members, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), to take part in the forthcoming protest against Federal Government decision to remove fuel subsidy in the country.

State Chapter Chairman, Adamu Musa disclosed this on Friday while briefing Journalists after a mobilisation meeting held at Labour House in Gombe.

Recall that Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has fixed January 27 to conduct  protest across the 36 States of the federation over the planned fuel subsidy removal.

According to Adamu, “The removal of fuel subsidy will unleash more sufferings on the Nigerian masses.  Nigerians are already suffering due to economic hardships and increase in price of commodities.”

He assured that NLC would do all it took to ensure Federal Government reversed the decision.

Explaining further on the strategic plans to ensure massive turnouts,  Adamu said, they have mobilised their members and affiliates to come out on the fixed date for the protest, adding that the grand protest would be held in Abuja under National leadership of the Congress.

When was asked on their plans to ensure hitch free and secured protest, Comrade Adamu said they had reached out to security agencies to give cover and ensure peaceful protest.

“NLC is expecting compliance from the workers and members of CSOs to cooperate with their leadership and come out to participate peacefully without causing harm to anybody,” Adamu added.
