
The Teranga Lions of Senegal on Sunday defeated the Pharoahs of Egypt 4-2 on penalties to win the 2021 AFCON trophy in Cameroon for the first time, with Sadio Mane in the top of his game.
The AFCON 2021 final match between Senegal and Egypt ended in a goalless draw after 120 minutes stoppage time, with going on penalties, the only option to decide the fate of the finals. Sadio Mane scored the winning penalty against Egypt to ensure Senegal won their first AFCON title.

Captain of Senegal, Sadio Mane was crowned TotalEnergies Man of the Competition after his over-the-top performance with the Teranga Lions, leading the team to their first ever AFCON title in Cameroon.

Cameroon captain, Vincent Aboubakar, won the Golden Boot award after scoring a tally of 8 goals in the tournament, Senegal star goal stopper, Edouard Mendy won the best goalkeeper award as the Chelsea shot-stopper conceded only two goals during AFCON 2021, and blocked a penalty in the shootout against Egypt.
