Shun violence~ Munzaifad Care, Cardinal John Onaiyekan Foundation tell Gombe youths
Following political and communal crises in Gombe State, Dahiru Abubakar, convener of Dialogue and Conflict Mediation has urged youths not to allow themselves to be used by politicians, adding that they should confirm whether politician’s children were among.
Abubakar, made this disclosure at a one-lecture organised by Munzaifad Care Foundation in collaboration with Cardinal John Onaiyekan Foundation where he admonished them to eschew violence and embrace peace.

He revealed that the issue of class can’t be divorced from the rate at which the state and the country suffers from violence, noting that justice and equity were key factor for peace.
According to Abubakar, “The top class usually are the ones that cause this type of violence. They will not go and they will not send their children; most of their children are not staying here as some of them are outside the country, they will just organise those from lower class and start giving them drugs to start harassing other people. If you will not use your children then you must stop destroying other people’s children.”

He added that politics is a game of number and no one deserved to be killed, stressing that sponsors of violence should strive to get the requisite supporters instead of death tow.
“Politics is a game of number come out and get your own number, it is not a game of violence. The youth constitutes the greatest majority we are going to see that some of them get opportunity to go back to school, without securing their future, they will not be useful,” Abubakar said.
Also Speaking, Abdullahi Hussaini said youths were the most vulnerable, noting that alot was needed to ensure they were protected.
Hussaini said the era of using motorcycles for empowerment, to hoodwink them into nefarious activities is over.
“The question should be how many students did they sponsor abroad to read medicine, or in Gombe State University to read biological sciences or how many have been genuinely empowered in terms of business that is what we are looking for and to for us to be killing ourselves,” Hussaini said.
