Former PDP lawmaker explains reason for defecting to APC in Gombe
The Member representing Nafada South Constituency, Adamu Musa on Monday explained reasons behind his abandoning the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress in Gombe.
Musa who explained amid his teeming supporters who moved with him to the All Progressives Congress, in a ceremony organised to mark the formal defection of the lawmaker from the opposition PDP to the governing APC in Gombe State, held at Birin Fulani West Ward of Nafada Local Government Area.
He revealed that he was swayed by the sterling performance of Governor Muhammadu Yahaya since assumption of power in the Gombe State, debunking insinuations that he was cajoled with monetary rewards.
Musa, after receiving his membership card of the APC, explained that he was attracted to the ruling party by the achievements recorded by Governor Inuwa, not only within his constituency, but the state at large.
The lawmaker said, “I was moved by the giant strides and unprecedented achievements made by Governor Inuwa Yahaya-led administration in less than three years. Within this short period, Gombe has witnessed tremendous development, and I will not want to be left out of this success story.”
He mentioned the non-discriminatory leadership style of Yahaya saying, “Even when I was in the opposition, I forwarded so many requests that have to do with the yearnings and aspirations of my constituents, the requests that were never turned down by His Excellency. What else do we need from a leader apart from sincere concern and true commitment?,” he added.
While acknowledging Musa’s decision, Governor Yahaya described him as a grassroot politician who would add value to the ruling party.
Represented by the Chief of Staff Government House, Abubakar Kari, the Governor expressed delight with the warm reception accorded him and his entourage by the people of Biri in particular and Nafada LGA at large, assuring the mammoth crowd that they will never regret the decision to join the APC.
Yahaya said, “When we came to power in 2019, we pledged to carry everybody along irrespective of any differences, and we are delivering on that.
“The developmental projects our government is executing in Nafada South Constituency and Nafada Local Government in general is, but just a tip of the iceberg – many more are coming insha Allah.”
On his part, Speaker of Gombe State House of Assembly, Hon. Mohammed Abubakar Luggerewo, described Hon. Musa as a selfless representative and politician who danced to the tune of his people.
“I work closely with this gentleman and I have found him to be very passionate about serving his people, this puts him on the same page with Governor Inuwa Yahaya who always works in the interest of his people,” he said.
Also speaking, Chairman Nafada LGA, Alh. Musa Abubakar Babawuro enumerated some projects executed by Governor Yahaya in Nafada LGA, lauding his various interventions in his Local Government.
