Gombe 2023: I’m not contesting to be served, says Gwamna
A business mogul cum philanthropist, Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, Wednesday, said he was not contesting the governorship seat to be served but to help rescue Gombe people from poverty, hardship and maladministration.
Gwamna stated this in Gombe while declaring his interest in the governorship ticket of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe state.
Gwamna who is also the Sardaunan Gombe said he was contesting to serve the good people and bridge the gaps between the state’s resources and the people.
He said his drive was to harness the resources of the state for the benefit of the generality of the people in Gombe State.
“If democracy is government of the people by the people and for the people; then the resources must be managed in a way to benefit the people.
“I am here to serve and not to be served. I have empowered many youth and women with my personal resources and I know I can do more with the resources of the state to improve on the living standard of Gombe people.”
The PDP chieftain stated further that he was on a rescue mission in Gombe State to deliver the people of the state from “unprecedented hardship that the people had been subjected to under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).”
According to Gwamna, the APC has only succeeded in widening the gap between the people and the state’s resources, an act he described as “unfortunate and extremely shocking for a state with huge potentials.”
He said his ambition was driven by the welfare and wellbeing of the people and with “my team come 2023 by Allah’s Grace, we will make Gombe great again and resume the development and massive infrastructure that the PDP had brought to Gombe State.”
“2023 is crucial and Gombe State cannot continue with a failed administration that is suffocating the people, hence all hands must be on deck to bring in fresh air to Gombe State.”
