2023: Shun violence, Idoko charges Enugu youths
The Chief Executive Officer of Chido Cargo and Maritime Logistics Services Limited, Mr Chidozie Collins Idoko has called on Youths to shun all shades of violence as 2023 general election year draws near.
He stated this in a media chat with some Journalists in Enugu.
Idoko said, “We are one family and the unspeakable truth remains that we need to have a paradigm shift from our old ways of playing politics in our constituencies, State and the Nation at large.
Idoko said that experiences and records have proven that 98% of our politicians are not sensitive to the plight of the masses therefore, as youths they must eschew all manner of divisive politics and violence at every point of election process.
According to him, “If we sincerely assess our political journey and experiences so far then it will dawn on all of us that politics is a game, hence politicians will always say ‘there are no permanent enemies or even friends in politics, it is the interest that matters all the time.
“My advice is that you don’t create unnecessary enmity that may hinder you in the future, we must play by the rules of the game.”
Politics is a game as we all know that only one person will emerge as the winner in every position he stated.
According to Idoko, “always remember that tomorrow holds a lot for all of us.
“Whether you are for Candidate A, B, C or D, let’s first see ourselves as brothers and sisters and every other thing would follow.”
Speaking further, he advised the youths “to imbibe the wise admonition from our beloved governor shortly after the 2019 general election which remains evergreen.
“I can still recall our visit to the Government House immediately after the 2019 election. Some of our leaders were bragging on how they have pushed out our brother Senator Ayogu Eze and off the track in his gubernatorial bid.
The peoples governor, our Ezeudo in his usual fatherly advice, rather called for diverse and inclusive culture as to move Enugu forward.
The governor stated “there was no loser as Enugu.
“To some of us, we were asking ourselves, what manner of man is our Governor? Therefore, the youth constituency must apply same mindset in all our political games.
“I advise we desist from name-calling and avoid anything that will make you asperse or traduce any candidate in any political platform no matter how pushed because we all have our lives to live after election,” Mr Idoko emphasised.
In his words, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr said, “The time is always right to do what is right.
“Let’s make Ezike great again! Igbo-Eze North/Udenu federal Constituency must rise again. Enugu State is our own he reiterated.
