Gombe gaffer blames draw on anxiety
Technical Adviser of the Gombe United Zubairu Aliyu, has blamed his team’s draw with Akwa United on anxiety, adding that it contributed to their showing.
Aliyu disclosed this on Saturday shortly after the match at Pantami stadium, noting that could be the reason his boys missed their chances.
Adam Yakubu of Akwa United opened the scoring slate at the 16th minutes before Gombe United Yusuf Abdulazeez equalised at the 36th minutes in the first half of the match.

According to the gaffer, “it normal, it part of the game. It’s about anxiety nobody was able to calm the team down that was why they persistently did nothing until the game ended. Anytime they have event of this magnitude, some of them age wise I don’t think they are there, anxiety was really telling on them
Speaking on the Abdulazeez’s 10th goal in the season, Aliyu said, “It’s good for him and it will encourage him to do more.”
Also speaking, Coach Ayodeji Ayeni of Akwa United lauded his boys performance, adding that the Gombe team was a good side.
He said, “We respect Gombe United, I played them when I was at sunshine. I can see that the team remains the way it has been. Gombe united has a good mid-field place. Every coach has his own tactical approach.”
Commenting on the officiating, Ayeni added, “the officiating was good and not bad, it just unfortunate that we were able to draw this one. By the grace of God our next match will yield positive result.”
