Google honours Ola Rotimi with doodle
Popular Search engine on Wednesday honoured Nigeria’s playwright Olawale Rotimi, also known as Ola Rotimi commemorating his 84th post humous birthday.
Our correspondent reports that Google Doodle is a special, temporary alteration of the logo on Google’s homepage which an intention to commemorate holidays, events, achievements and notable historical figures.
Rotimi was born on 13th April 1938, and died Ile Ife on 18th August 2000, after a remarkable life that ended in his 62nd years of existence.
The revered Playwright was head of department of creative arts at the University of Port Harcourt, lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria.
He also served as visiting professor, playwright, and director in Germany and Italy, as well as at DePauw University and Wabash College.
Rotimi was celebrated for some of his works which include; the gods are not to blame (1971), our husband has gone mad (1977), Kurunmi (1971) and so on.
The celebrated man of theatre Rotimi, would be remembered for contributing to simplifying English language and ensuring a connection between the town and gown.
