Former Gombe Gov, Dankwambo wins PDP Primary
Former Governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Dankwambo has clinched the Peoples Democratic Party ticket to contest Gombe North senatorial seat in 2023.
Dankwambo in 2019 contested the seat but lost to Saidu Alkali of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Declaring the result, Habu Zarma returning officer said Dankwambo picked the ticket following the withdrawal of other two contestants Bayero Nafada former governorship candidate of the PDP in 2019 and Hamma Saleh business mogul.
Meanwhile, former deputy minority whip, Binta Bello was defeated by Anthony Siyako who scored 59 votes, while Bello polled 57 votes.
All Progressives Congress chieftain and Senator representing Gombe Central Danjuma Goje’s name was sighted among the names vying for the position in the party.
Recall that Goje, recently reconciled with Governor Muhammadu Yahaya after months of media battle, with supporters thinking that he would defect to the PDP.
Sources told our correspondent that some supporters of the former governor bought Goje, the nomination form with the hope that he would become a member of the PDP.
However, Goje polled zero out of the 66 votes cast, while Abubakar Aliyu won by 59 votes.
