My credentials outweigh that of Tinubu, Osinbajo, others
Immediate past Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, on Saturday said he is the most experienced candidate for the position of president of Nigeria.
Amaechi made this disclosure in an interview with journalists shortly after addressing delegates of Gombe State in a consultative meeting held at the banquet hall of the Government House.
The former Rivers State Governor revealed that he has occupied every relevant elective and appointive positions twice, noting that he remains the best man for the job.
He said, “I said I’m more experienced than all of them, I have been governor, well our leader(Bola Tinubu) has been governor. I have been speaker, nobody apartment from Tambuwal who has been speaker, no other person I have been minister and in these they are all two terms. Someone may say, I was senator, governor, minister but all one term but I have done two terms in everything I have done.”
According to him, he has toured about 31 states of the federation ahead of the primary, adding that as a two-term Director General of Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari’s campaigned has a grasp of the myriads of challenges facing the citizens across the 36 states.
“If you leave that apart I have been Director General of campaign, I have toured the 36 states, I took the president to the 36 states of the federation and I took my time to understand what was going on and I did that twice and I repeated it travelling. This (Gombe) today (Saturday) is my 31st state and it is raining five nobody has done that and I will do that between tomorrow (Sunday) and next,” Amaechi added.
The presidential aspirant boasted that he would become the president of the country at 58, with the support of voters, stressing that the youths were better empowered with the not too young to run.
He added, “The not too young to run, makes youths to run easily, at 34 I was speaker, I was governor at 42. You need to struggle to get the attention of a party. I became minister at 50, inshallah I will be president at 58.”
Speaking earlier, Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya lauded the leadership qualities of the former governor, adding that delegates were open to follow the part of progress.
He added that Amaechi had shown capacity in the various positions he held in the past.
