NWTF, FOCEI with support from Ford Foundation train Women, Adolescent Girls on GBV
Women and girls have been encouraged to acquire leadership and capacity building skills as a requisite to mitigating Gender-based Violence.

The Executive Director, Foundation for Community Empowerment Initiative Mrs Rahab Loh made this disclosure at a one-day training on Gender-based Violence and mitigation strategies held on Tuesday at Hajiya Amina event hall in Gombe state.
According to Loh, women were expected to get educated in order to acquire skills for leadership which would help their families, community and country at large.
Also speaking, Chief Executive Officer of Foundation for Community Empowerment initiative (FOCEI), Benjamin Maina, while highlighting the purpose and objectives of the training to the participants said both gender were at risk, adding that both go through violence in various forms.
On her part, Director of Social Services Gombe State Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs. Asabe Adamu Hina, enumerated the dangers of inequality between men and women.
According to Hina, the gap was created by culture and tradition, stressing that as the root of the abuse on women.
She said, “Women are always at risk and also at the receiving end of societies partiality.”
Also, a facilitator, Atiku Yahaya emphasised the need to enlighten women and girls on gender-based violence, mitigation and referral part ways for survivors and how to seek succour from relevant stakeholders.
Yahaya further urged women to speak up if they encounter any form of abuse.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that the training was on Enhancing Women and Adolescents Girls on Leadership Skills and capacity to mitigate Gender Based Violence (GBV) in selected Communities in Kwami Local Government Area of Gombe State, Nigeria.
The workshop was organised by Foundation for Community Empowerment initiative (FOCEI) in partnership with Nigerian Women Trust Fund (NWTF), supported by Ford Foundation.




It was a great experience with women and Adolescent girls from the grassroots were we train participants on Gender Base Violence, monitoring and referral partway.
