Gombe PDP nominates retired civil servant as Barde’s running mate
Timothy Danlele, a retired civil servant and foundation member of the Peoples Democratic Party has been nominated as the Deputy Governorship candidate ahead of 2023 election.
Confirming the development to our correspondent on Friday, Gombe State Secretary of PDP Buba Shanu lauded the announcement of Danlele as Muhammad Barde’s running mate.
Recall that Barde is the standard-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party in Gombe, after defeating Ishiyaku Gwamna, former Managing Director of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO).
According to Shanu, the Deputy Governorship candidate would help stabilise the party chances, adding that as a foundation member the much needed change is imminent.
The party scribe said, “He (Danlele) has been a major stakeholder in the PDP in the last 20 years. He is basically a principal stakeholder and one of the fundamental backbone of PDP in Gombe South. Currently he is one of the top five party elders and of course a retired civil servant and I think he was a member of state civil service commission during the years of Goje and Tolba (Dankwambo). Like I said, he is basically a stabilising factor of the party in the last 20 years and he has always intervened as a father and elder in crisis between executive, legislature and party leadership.
He is one of those people you can call the soul of the party because when anything goes wrong they are the people we fall back to. Technically, you can say he brings stability the aspiration and element of trust to the old school.”
Commenting on the Barde’s membership in the party, Shanu said Danlele would bring the required support system as an elder statesman especially as the Governorship candidate was a new entrant to the party.
“If you noticed the governor (Barde), recently joined PDP in less than two years, for the gubernatorial race, you can technically say he is a foreigner in the party, he is not completely stabilised, accepted there are people who find it difficult to accept changes,” Shanu added.
