The Secretary to Gombe State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi has called on eligible voters in the state to take advantage of the extension period by Independent Electoral Commission INEC to get registered to enable them exercise their franchise.

Njodi made the call in a statement made available to Periscope Nigeria by his Information Officer Joshua Danmalam, to commemorate this year’s Eid- el- Kabir Sallah Celebrations.

The statement partly read, “as critical stakeholders in the electoral process, it is expedient for citizens of voting age in the State to obtain their Permanent Voter Card as a prerequisite for electing leaders in all strata of elective positions.”

While felicitating with the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Eid el-Kabir, Njodi called for fervent prayers, tolerance, peaceful coexistence and above all, security consciousness among the citizens.

According to him, “Eid-el-Kabir is a period of sacrifices, where Muslims are expected to submit to the dictate of the season so as to receives Allah’s blessings.”

He revealed that Government under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya would not be deterred in its determination to continually provide the dividends of democracy to the nooks and crannies of the State.

To this end, the SSG called for unwavering support of all and sundry in order to move the state to a higher scale of development.

On the ongoing strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Professor Njodi said “As a responsible Father, mentor and friend to the future leaders, the youths, I share in your moment of academic challenges and pray for a return of academic activities within the shortest possible time.”
