Gombe NYSC cautions PCMs against unauthorised posts
The National Youth Service Corps Gombe State Coordinator Ada Imoni, on Sunday cautioned Prospective Corps Members (PCMs), against abuse of social media platforms, granting press interview, being partisan and indecent dressing.

Imoni, made the plea to 2022 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Prospective Corps members deployed to Gombe, while briefing them at the temporary orientation camp.
She stated the dangers of using social media to post grievances or activities of the scheme, stating that unauthorised pictures or videos are not allowed.

According to the State Coordinator, there are channels of communication on camp to be followed strictly by Camp participants, where complaints, suggestions and contributions could be channeled.
She said, “Any Corps member caught posting videos , pictures or grievances on any media platform and granting interview to the press will be dealt with in accordance to the provisions of the NYSC Act and Bye-laws.”

While speaking on their welfare and security Imoni said adequate provisions have been made by NYSC Management to take care of their feeding, security and welfare, encouraging them not to hide their ailment.

She revealed that access to healthcare was through the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), free of charge, urging them to write the NHIS number on their NYSC Identify card for ease of reference.
“Consultants from Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe, would be at the Camp Clinic to attend to sick Corps members and those with serious ailment,” Imoni said.
Commenting on security, Imoni said suspicious activities or persons should be reported to Security Agencies on camp, stressing the need to be non partisan as the 2023 general election approaches.
” Try and know your roommates, platoon mates and camp officials . If you see something say something to enable us keep you safe.
“On no account should Corps members be partisan as they will be expected to give the nation free, fair and credible elections,come 2023. You must be non partisan throughout the service year,” Imoni added.
The State Coordinator harped on the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC to include; Orientation Course, Primary assignment, Community Development Service and the winding up and passing out, allowances, code of conduct on camp, respect for constituted authority and national unity and integration.
She added, “Orientation Course exposes Corps members to the nitty gritty of the service year as religious differences, ethnicity ,cultures and traditions are melted into one for the purpose of national unity and integration.”
