Impeccable sources who begged for anonymity claimed the sum amounts to about N3 million, adding that there are agitations leading to calls for the resignation of the speaker.
Our Correspondent reports that Luggerewo escaped a similar impeachment move against him in 2021, due to alleged interference by DSS.
According to the source, aside the sum, the welfare of members amounts to the reasons for the agitation for the resignation of Luggerewo.
The source said, “The speaker has been accused of diverting funds meant for members of the House to the tune of N3 million, as well as not taking into consideration the welfare of members of the State House.
“Many of the members of the Gombe State House of Assembly complain of their total take home pay which is the least in comparison to neighbouring states like Adamawa, Bauchi, Yobe and Borno.”
“The Speaker is under pressure by colleagues to resign or address us,” the source added.
When contacted the Chairman house committee on Information, Tulgufut Kardi denied knowledge of the impeachment calls.
He noted that the matter was only brought to his knowledge through our correspondent’s inquiry.
Kardi said, “I’m not aware of this development, just hearing for the first time and from you.”
Calls and text sent to the Speaker’s telephone number have not been returned as at the time of filing this report.
