Gombe first lady urges parents, stakeholders, on support to girl-child

The wife of Gombe State Governor, Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya, has called on parents, government and the community, to provide the girl-child with the requisite knowledge and skills for her to build a solid foundation for a bright future.

The wife of Governor also emphasised the need to show serious commitment towards improving the educational standard and health status of the Girl- Child in order to take charge of her tomorrow.
The First Lady who spoke at the event to commemorate the 2022 International Day of the Girl-Child held in Gombe which is done annually, explained that the occasion is in recognition of their potentials and vital contributions played by women for the overall developmental needs of the society.
In the statement by her media aide, she pointed out that under the government of Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, priority was given to education generally with special attention towards empowering the Girl- Child economically, socially and health wise.
This event was in line with the philosophy behind the introduction of Federal Government’s Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA), and the At Risk Children Project Gombe (ARC-P), which were anchored towards bettering the lives of women particularly girls that offers the opportunity to be enrolled in schools while dropouts/ vulnerable were given a second chance to roll back to the school system
She further sought for the support of all the citizens and the stakeholders in the education sector to strategize and develop more avenues of ensuring that the children are provided with quality education and other social services in order to better their lives.
Yahaya finally reminded the women to stand up for their girls by allowing them actualize their dreams through acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills to support their families as well as build a better future.
According to her, “if you educate a man, you educate an individual. But if you educate a woman, you educate a nation.
“The theme of this year is,”Our Time is Now, Our Rights,Our Future is appt and justifiable.”
