Gombe Gov determined to address challenges, create jobs for teeming youths says Deputy Gov

The Deputy Governor of Gombe State Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, who is also the Chairman of Gombe State Investment Summit, 2022 has stated that Gombe State Government under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, is determined to accept and address all the challenges facing the state and to create jobs for teeming youths in the state through improved facilities.
While considering the summit as apt, germane and necessary, the Gombe Investment Summit is to showcase and highlight all the potentials and opportunities that abound to investors and convince them to come and invest in the state because of conducive peaceful environment,improved facilities such as power supply, manpower and adequate security as some of factors necessary for investments to flourish, he notes what
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the maiden summit on Wednesday at International Conference Centre, Gombe , the Deputy Governor said, “the success of the summit is highly associated with the desire of the state to develop and improved standard of living quite beyond mere economic growth, which is what the nation seems to have witnessed since independence.”
He explained further that despite the experience witnessed during the Covid-19 in which certain category of workers from level 12 and below, stayed at home, and yet work did not suffer and injury by way of a decline in productivity.
According to him, “it is now obvious that Government needed not employ more hands as already a situation of” underdevelopment” exists, in the Local Government Area Councils, States and the Federal Government. In the circumstances the best and indeed all that Government can do is to create a conducive atmosphere for investments/Investors to create employment for the population that is fast growing at an alarming/ geometric rate with it’s attendant undesirable consequences as pinpointed by Rev. Robert Thomas Malthus ( 1766-1834) who was interested and concerned about everything about population.”

“Our dear Gombe State, the Jewel in the Savannah has been preparing for Investors. Accordingly, among other existing advantages/facilities for would-be investors are the source of power from the 40 Mega Watts generated at the Dadinkowa Dam from which a dedicated line can be connected, to ensure constant power supply. Ofcourse this among other factors, impact positively of the high production cost,”he said.
He further disclosed that the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park which is 1000 hectares of land provided with basic infrastructure, located just 38 kilometers from this venue( ICC), Peaceful, serene and conducive environment for the conduct, thriving and promoting of business and Ease of Doing Business were some of the advantages for investors to key- in the state.
He recalled that the State came first in the entire country in the EoDB Ranking in 2021,Equidistant from the other five states in the North East geopolitical zones, with a total population of about 30 Million , the availability of Market or off takers is established and
Products from Gombe can easily and legally be exported to the neighbouring countries ; Niger, Chad, Cameroon, Central Africa, and the rest of Africa in line with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA), can boost industrialization in the state.
He said he was convinced about the availability of markets and effective demand of these goods and services that would be produced saying the Law of markets said, ” Supply creates its own demand” , according to Jean-Baptisle (1767-1832).
The Deputy Governor therefore appealed to the Federal Government, Investors and all Stakeholders to ” dip your buckets where you are” to ensure the success of this Summit, that is very crucial for the progressive change in the lives of residents in Gombe, the North East Geopolitical Zone and by implication our dear country Nigeria”.
