The Gombe State Police Command on Wednesday launched an investigation into the recent viral video where the police supervised demolition of billboards of political parties.

Disclosing the dismay of the Commissioner of Police Ishola Babaita, the Public Relations Officer Abubakar Mahid, described the action as not the true representation of the command.

The statement partly read, “The attention of Gombe State Police Command has been drawn to a video clip that went viral in the Social media on the 24th October, 2022 in which Police officers allegedly provided a cover to some individuals to remove Billboards of certain political parties in the State.

“The Commissioner of Police CP Ishola B Babaita Psc FDMSS is deeply concerned over the alleged incident and has ordered for a full scale investigation into the matter.”

While assuring that perpetrators would be meted required justice, Babaita added that “no stone will be left unturned in respect of the alleged facts in issue and the outcome of Police investigation shall be made public in due course please.”
