NSCDC engages Clerics to admonish 19 commercial sex hawkers, 34 others
Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gombe State Command on Saturday engaged the services of clerics to admonish no fewer than 53 suspected criminals, with 19 alleged to be involved in commercial sex hawking.
The NSCDC commandant, Waziri Goni, disclosed that the command would not condone the negative activities from such trade.

According to him, the sex hawkers mostly underaged were raided at three locations including Gallas and brothels in the metropolis.
Goni said, “the sex hawkers like you can see are mostly underaged and are from the neighbouring Bauchi, Taraba, Adamawa, Borno and even Jos.”
Noting that they were arrested between 2-4:am, he said: “They are all of school ages. They left home without their parents knowledge, it is sad that this is what the society is breeding.
“As for us here, we will not condone societal vices, we have enough problems in our hands here in Gombe we just can’t afford to add to them,” he said.

Also, paraded are counterfeiters caught with Dollars and Naira currencies worth over N7.7million on conversion.
Our correspondent reports that money counterfeiters, “kalare” boys, burglars, motorcycle robbers and petty thieves.
He said the motorcycle robbers either steal or collect the motorcycles at gunpoint after which they took their loots to Alkaleri a border community between Gombe and Bauchi for waiting buyers who buy the N500,000 worth for N150,000.
Commenting on the “Kalare” gang of thugs, he noted they were going about the state with axes, Cutlass, knives and other dangerous weapons to dispossess the people of their valuables, he said all the accused would be charged to court this week, “it is for law to discourage such recurrence,” he said.
Also speaking, Sheikh Isah Alawiy, urged the suspects to abandon the heinous crimes they were involved in, adding that crimes doesn’t pay.
“This is the seventh time am being engaged by the command to counsel suspects to turn a new leaf,” Alawiy said.
