Don’t reject Corps Members – Gombe NYSC appeals to employers
The National Youth Service Corps has appealed to critical stakeholders especially employers of labour to desist from rejecting corps members deployed to their organisations.

Speaking during the completion of the mandatory three-week orientation course at the temporary orientation camp Amada, Gombe State Coordinator Ada Imoni, urged them to cease the opportunity to mentor the young men and women.
Our Correspondent reports that no fewer than 949, 2022 Batch C Stream I corps members, comprising 510 males and 439 females participated in closing ceremony.
“To our critical Stakeholders and Corps employers, I appeal to you not to reject Corps members posted to you. We must see these young men and women as our sons, daughters and wards, deployed to contribute to the accelerated development of our Dear nation. Help us to mentor them in their various places of Primary assignment for the good of Nigeria,” Imoni said.

Imoni, also advised corps not to be partisan but to contribute to free and fair electoral process in 2023 general elections. The State Coordinator, reminded the Corps Members that the scheme in collaboration with security agencies have concluded plans to keep them safe.
She added, “We are approaching the 2023 General elections. Nigerians will go to the polls with the help of Corps members as adhoc Staff. I therefore call on you to be nonpartisan. The nation awaits free, fair and credible elections and it is our duty to carry out that national assignment honourably. Arrangements have been concluded with Security Agencies to keep Staff and Corps members safe, throughout the exercise.”
Speaking further the Coordinator, urged the batch to closely assess the needs of the people before implementing projects in order to make desired impact,
“May I use this medium to encourage you to interact well with the people of your host community. It behoves you to identify their felt needs, mobilise resources and execute viable projects in order to leave lasting legacies. The Community Development Service; the third of the cardinal programmes of the Scheme harnesses the ingenuity of Corps members as they complement the effort of the Government in Rural Communities,” Imoni disclosed.
