Foundation Donates Screening Equipment To Gombe Facilities

Amen Healthcare and Empowerment Foundation, a non-governmental organisation in Gombe, has donated colposcopy and gynaecological instruments for the management and treatment of cervical cancer to the state specialist hospital.

The presentation of the instruments took place on Wednesday during the NGO’s stakeholders briefing on its programmes and activities in the year 2022 across the state.
The NGO known for its intervention and treatment of Neglected Tropical Diseases NTDs and Empowerment of men and women has succeeded in meeting the health needs of many people with Elephantiasis, hydrocele, trachoma Trichiasis and other NTDS as many of them were treated and operated upon.
Also the foundation with support from END FUND and the State Government has set up about 13 breast and cervical cancer centres across the state which has screened and treated many women.
Amen Health Care and Empowerment Foundation has built the capacity of many health workers and trained women on different skills to be self reliant.
While receiving the cervical cancer treatments tools, the state commissioner of health and chief medical director of the state specialist hospital Mua’zu Shuaibu Ishaq, commended the contribution of the foundation to the health sector, saying the NGO has initiated and implemented the cancer centres in all the local government areas while providing consumables and treatment.
In their Goodwill messages, the Commissioners of Health; Dr. Habu Dahiru and Women Affairs and Social Development Naomi JJ Awak, Emirs of Akko, Pindiga, Deba and Tula and religious leaders commended the impactful activities of the foundation which they said have touched the lives of many and prevented over 10,000 people from going blind and women from dying from breast and cervical cancer, with many youths empowered with skills to be self reliant.
Speaking, the founder and president of the NGO, Rita Aizehi Aimiuwu Oguntoyinbo, was full of gratitude for the overwhelming support of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, his wife; Hajiya Asma’u Yahaya, Ministry of Health, Local Government NTDS coordinators and END FUND which she said spurred the organisation to do more for the benefit of humanity.
