Imoni charges 2022 batch C stream I PCMs on self-reliance
With the increasing rate of unemployment among Nigerian graduates, the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme was introduced into the Orientation Course content in 2012, to build the capacity of Corps members to gain required Entrepreneurship and hands-on skills to cope with the challenges of unemployment and global socio-economic down turn.

The above assertion was made by the State Coordinator NYSC Gombe, Mrs Ada Imoni, while declaring open the 2022 Batch ‘C’Stream I Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development sensitization, at NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp Amada, Gombe State.

Represented by the Camp Director, Mr Emmanuel Oibe, the NYSC Boss maintained that the mandate of the programme was to contribute meaningfully to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals by reducing extreme hunger and poverty,among other things.

He added that the programme was a nationwide initiative targeting Nigerian graduates mobilised for the one year National service, designed to be implemented within the framework of the camp (in camp) and the service year (Post camp) of the Corps members.

PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that the skills set to be taught include;
Agro-allied, Good processing and preservation, Culture and tourism, Cosmetology, Information and Communication Technology, Construction, Environment, Beautification, Power and energy , Education, Film and photography and automobile.
Also speaking, Assistant Director Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development,Hajiya Jummai Idris Reme, encouraged participants to avail themselves to the opportunity as they would be put through for free.
She maintained that Corps members would be expected to continue with the post camp training during the service year.
Alhaji Abdullahi Maidabino, from National Directorate of Employment, delivered lecture on Entrepreneurship Development, while Mr Emmanuel Chidi of Hara foam and Mrs Mary Bahago Ibrahim CEO, House of Dellah Collectibles, motivated participants on the need to acquire a skill in order to be Entrepreneurs and employers of labour.
Our Correspondent reports that no fewer than 916 prospective Corps members were at the sensitisation and are expected to participate in the nine-day hands-on training.
