By Vasty Bala Jonah
With the discovery and inauguration of oil and gas drilling in Kolmani oil Field, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Gombe state, Barrister Muhammad Zubairu Umar, has requested for more funding.

PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that the funds would support the Ministry deal with litigations that would likely arise following the discovery.
Zubairu made the appeal during the 2023 budget defence of his ministry before the state House of Assembly committee on appropriation on Friday.

The commissioner, who stated that at the moment the ministry lacks trained lawyers in the oil and gas field, said “the services of experts will be employed to deal with litigations that may arise while making efforts to train its lawyers.”
Also, the commissioner said the ministry would focus on codifying Gombe State laws which he said “at the moment still using the Bauchi state laws.”
He appealed for support from the State House of Assembly.

Speaking shorting after their presentation, the House Committee Chairman on Appropriation, Ali Baba Manu, assured the Justice Ministry of improved budget and support.
