Custodian of law shouldn’t violate the law – Lawmaker tells Gov Ishaku

The Federal Lawmaker representing Wukari and Ibi constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Danjuma Shiddi, on Friday called on governor Darius Ishaku to be a respecter of law not violator, as custodian of the Constitution should not be seeing violating it.
The lawmaker who is popularly know as (Danji SS), also the APC senatorial candidate for Taraba south made the call while briefing journalists in Jalingo said, the continued detention of Mr. Samaila Yakubu in the police custody for over one month on the order of the governor was a violation of law, and asked the governor to direct for immediate release of Mr Yakubu from police detention.
Hon. Danjuma expressed that the law under which Mr. Yakubu was being detained, has been repealed and there was no provision of the law to keep an innocent citizen in the police custody for such a period of time.
He said, “I want governor Darius Ishaku to be a respecter of the law and not a violator. A custodian of the Constitution should no be seeing violating it.
“The continue detention of Mr. Samaila Yakubu in the police custody for over one month now on the order of the governor is purely a violation of the law that governor is a custodian. The law under which he is being detained has been repealed since last year and there is no provision of the Constitution for an innocent citizen to be held captive under such law.
“I know that the governor is afraid of the 2023 election and he is doing everything possible to cripple my supporters. He has lost relevance in the southern zone of Taraba and he think is by frustrating my supporters that would make him win against me.
“I want to tell the governor that my supporters are intact, even if INEC decide to conduct election today, I will win against him so, he should stop harassing innocent citizen with the police.”
“I learnt the governor is threatening to sponsor a bill to the state house of assembly that would suppress the media operation in Taraba because of the negative facts that the press have decided to published against him in recent time, I commend journalist in Taraba for the great job. I want to tell Nigerians that, I would not allow such bill to see the light of the day. I will sponsor and lead protest to ensure that the legislatures seat against the bill.
“He want to suppress the power of the media in Taraba so that an ordinary citizen would not know how poor he has performed as a governor and still vote for him in the 2023 election.
“I want to call on my supporters and all APC supporters in Taraba to be law abiding citizens and wait to celebrate their victory in the 2023 election,” The lawmaker added.
