Former Gov Yahaya’s Campaign DG Joins Mailantarki In Gombe NNPP
A former Campaign Director-General of Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, Musa Zubairu, has joined the opposition New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) in Gombe State.
After announcing his defection alongside his supporters to the NNPP on Tuesday, he pledged to support its gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki and other candidates to win the 2023 general election in the state.
Our Correspondent reports that Zubairu served as the DG to Governor Yahaya’s Campaign Directorate in 2011 and also in 2015.
He had earlier defected to the PDP before his recent decision to move into the NNPP.
The PDP chieftain was received into the NNPP alongside hundreds of his supporters by the gubernatorial candidate of the Party, Khamisu Mailantarki, the State Party Chairman, Umar Abdullahi Maikano, the House of Representative candidate for Yamaltu/Deba federal constituency, Dr. Bashir Mohammed and the Secretary of the party, Nasir Baba Shareef among others.
Meanwhile, The NNPP now has equal number of members with PDP in the State Assembly as both parties have three members each.
The party has in recent times received thousands of the ruling APC and the opposition PDP into it’s fold.
Speaking the gubernatorial candidate Mailantarki, explained that the party has now spread its presence to all nooks and crannies of Gombe State, “captured the hitherto strongholds of both the ruling APC and the opposition PDP ahead of the elections,” he said.
