The Samba Boys suffered a defeat they bargained for in one of the most crucial point of grabbing the title for the sixth time as Croatia eliminate hopes of five-time world champions Brazil with a breath taking 4-2 penalty shootout win at the Education City Stadium to secure a spot in the semi-finals.

Brazil have been eliminated from four of their last five World Cup quarter-finals and this defeat records a bad moment meanwhile Neymar has written his name in history books as he equalled Pele’s record as Brazil’s all-time leading men’s scorer on 77 goals but on a contrary, Brazil have become the first side in World Cup history to be eliminated from a knockout match after scoring the opening goal during extra-time.
Croatia kept their composure as Brazil’s Marquinhos and Rodrygo failed to convert the first kicks for Brazil while Nikola Vlasic, Lovro Majer, Luka Modric and Orsic all scored from the spot to ensure they progressed to the semi finals of the tournament.
