1,577 youths participated in 2022 Bima hill climb in Gombe
As part of the 2022 cultural festival in Hina community of Yamaltu Deba Local Government Council, no fewer than 1,577 youths participated in climbing the historic Bima hill.
Our correspondent reports that the hill is a tourism site situated along Gombe -Biu road, in Gombe State.
The hill is 764 metres by 259 feets above sea level and is visited by local and international tourists.

Speaking, President of the HYFO, Mr Umar Musa said climbing the hill was part of the seven days programmes.
He disclosed that the end of year activities was aimed at fostering unity, peaceful co-existence and recognise outstanding sons and daughters of the community.
Musa said that the annual festival also allows for interactions and social activities among indigenes living in and out of the Hina community.
According to him, the forum awarded 11 illustrious sons and daughters who were recognised for their various contributions to the development of the indigent persons and community.”
Musa listed other activities conducted to include cultural food and sporting competition,Traditional dances, visitations among others.
“Last year, only 300 youths climbed the hill in 2021 while 1,577 youths participated in 2022.
“Bima mountain is a historic site full of site attractions.
“We intend to do more next year and the time of the end of year festival is to foster unity, peace and the bond of brotherhood,” he said.
Musa said that HYFO has in 2022 conducted numerous activities to foster development of the community.
He revealed that over 123 youths were sponsored for the 2022 Secondary school certificate and Joint Admission and Matriculation Examination (JAMB).
He added, “In our various interventions, we supported 123 youths to write secondary school leaving examinations, 58 Joint Admission and Matriculation Examination, five in diploma and Higher National Diploma.
“HYF also conducted a tree planting campaign to avert dissatisfaction.”
Also speaking, Mr Adamu Galadima,community leader of Hina, said that youths were the backbone for meaningful development.
He urged youths to embrace skills in order to reduce the burden of unemployment.
