A former Minister of Transportation Barr. Idris Umar, has said that Nigeria is in a sorry state, adding that the people are tired of misrule of the APC-led government.
According to him, people have become optimistic about the need for positive change, stressing that PDP would deliver good governance.
Our Correspondent reports that he was a minister under Goodluck Jonathan’s administration and he represented Gombe Central from 29th May 2007- May 2011.
Umar said, “Under the APC administration, insecurity has become the order of the day, kidnapping, raping, banditry have become norms and rural dwellers which are farmers can longer go the farm freely.”
The former Minister made disclosure in Deba, Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area during PDP Campaign for its Gombe central candidates.
He called on youths, women and small scale business owners to elect Atiku Abubakar for president as he has plans to use N7 Trillion to empower and support them.
“For people to change the current happenings in the country, there is need to elect PDP candidates from top to bottom as only the party had planned out good intentions and programmes that will improve their lives,” Umar added.
Umar called on the electorates to elect Abubakar Aliyu as senator for Gombe central, saying the seat should be given to Yamaltu Deba; since Akko Local Government Area has held the seat for so long.
He also called on Senator Danjuma Goje, to drop his intention of seeking to return to the senate and support his friend Aliyu, whom he said they have been together in politics since the time of Shagari.
Umar reminded Goje of the promise he made on 18th December 2019 at Pantami stadium to stop contesting for elective positions after several times of contesting and winning, adding that “those people that asked him to contest again didn’t do well,” the former Minister said.
He went further to ask Goje to make a U-turn and come back to his family which is the PDP, Umar said, “his present party at the moment (APC), has left him out and there is no way he can get the party agent to protect his votes, so there is need to come back home (PDP).
