Gombe LP Gov candidate denies diverting campaign funds

Gombe State Governorship candidate of Labour Party Keftin Amuga, has denied allegations that he withheld campaign funds for personal gains.
Amuga, made this disclosure on Wednesday in Gombe in his address, while inaugurating gubernatorial campaign council ahead of march 2023 election.

According to him, instead of stealing from candidates and the party he opened legitimate opportunities to realise money which others could attest to in other to achieve the ultimate goal of restoring the state.
Amuga said, “That I am withholding campaign funds given to me for Labour Party candidates in Gombe State.
My response to this is that in the absence of any evidence to tender, it is a fake and false allegation and seen as calculated by Political Parties opponents through Labour Party members and candidates to dissuade members of the Public from rallying around my candidature and elect me as next Governor of Gombe State.
“Furthermore the fact still remains that I did not collect any funds from any individual or organisation be it MBF or whichever, to give to Labour Party candidates in Gombe State. I firmly maintain this and I demand anybody or organisation to challenge me to the contrary. The reality remains that when I realised the Labour Party was not in a position to fund my campaigns, I immediately embarked on an aggressive fund raising to meet my campaign expenses, which I even extended assistance to some Labour Party candidates, as they even admitted.”

While disagreeing with insinuations that he is not a serious contender for the seat of governor, he said he has not desire to quit.
“This therefore should be disregarded by genuine members of Labour part. Is obvious that as the campaign heats up and the election draws nearer, couple with the growing popularity of Peter Obi/Amuga, our Political opponents will grow desperate and it could be nasty, therefore let’s unite and gear up.
“Meanwhile, to those who are committed to blackmailing me I want to strongly warn them, that while the laws allows for freedom of speech, this must not be recklessly used to assassinate my character because words has consequences provided by law. Certainly further blackmail and campaign of calumny on my person and candidature shall not be tolerated any longer, Amuga added.
