Gombe United Gaffer angered over Referee’s disapproval of goal

The Technical Adviser of Gombe United Football Club Aliyu Zubairu, has expressed dissatisfaction over the disapproval of a goal which he described as FIFA standard.
Zubairu stated his displeasure on Sunday in Pantami stadium when his team drew 1-1 with its guest Nasarawa United.
He stated that the goal in international football setting would have evoked applause, stressing that it was demoralising to note that it wasn’t counted.
Zubairu said, “The referee disallowed my good goal by FIFA standard the best goal you will think of he disallowed it.
“Since the league started I have lost goals. I have commended the referees that they are doing well but why will this referee disallow this goal. That is just my argument.”
Commenting on the future of the team, he added, he added, “we will continue to work hard at least a draw is better than losing.”
While condemning the attitude of unruly supporters, Zubairu added, “I think that is the duty of management to continue to enlighten them that they should be patient.”
Also speaking, Coach of Nasarawa United Bala Nykiu, commended the efforts of his boys, adding that it would ensure an upward wing of his team.
“The referee has the reason for taking any decision. I was feeling that we have carried the day so it seems. The last matches we lost I’m sure out of the three two would have been a draw,
“The result is important to me is very important because we have played three matches and we didn’t have any point. We have one point now, if we have one point at home we step on them.”
Lamenting the unruly end of the game, Nykiu said, “I’m sure the league management will do something about it because I know they usually send delegate. I’m sure the management we watch and do something about it especially when fans throw obstacles into the field.”
