Stop stigmatising ex-inmates -NCoS
Controller of Nigerian Correctional Service Gombe State, Lawal Gusau, has urged residents to stop stigmatising ex-inmates.
Conveying the controller’s message, the Public Relations Officer of NCoS, Abdullahi Hamma, made this disclosure at the maiden PROs meeting of security agencies in the state hosted by ASP Mahid Abubakar of the police command.
Our Correspondent reports that participants at the maiden meeting include; PROs of Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Federal Fire Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Nigerian Correctional Service and Immigration.
According to him, instead of stigmatising against the ex inmates they should be supported to become useful to the society.
“Stop stigmatizing the ex-convicts support the ex-offenders for the reintegration of the ex offenders back to the society because it has a long way of a redefining their mind sets,” he said.
While commending the host for the meeting, he added that, “unity, team work, cordial relationship among the state security agencies in Gombe State is important.”
On his part, ASP Abubakar, who convened the maiden meeting, lauded the support of his counterparts describing the meeting as something to be proud of, “for me to be the first to host this kind of important gathering.”
Also, DSC Sa’ad Buhari of NSCDC urged for more inter-agency collaborations, stressing that alot would be achieved with synergy.
