No fewer than 100 members have been suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe state, for allegedly working against the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

According to the suspension letter which was issued by the secretary of the APC in Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area (LGA) Haruna Hina, reports of anti-party activities had been filed against the suspended members by the leaders of the party in their respective wards of the LGA.

Hina disclosed that the suspended persons include; five members in Hinna, seven in Gwani/Shinga/Wade, 11 in Kuri/Lano/Lambam, 11 in Nono/Kunuwal/Wuro Berdaka as well as 11 in Deba wards of the LGA.

Others are four in Jagali North, 16 in Jagali South, nine in Kanawa/Wajari as well as 16 in Kwadon/Liji/Kurba, and 10 in Zambuk/Kwali wards.

Haruna added that the suspension is with immediate effect and that the members involved are directed to appear before a disciplinary committee set up by the various wards.

With less than a month to the general elections, the APC in Gombe State has been hit with a series of defections, losing key officials including Abubakar Mu’azu Hassan a close ally of the State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya.

Our Correspondent reports that recently district head of Bodor in Funakaye Local Government Area, Sale Tinka, defected to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Gombe.
