Census Night: Insane persons to be counted – NPC
……. no APC, PDP house, if you allow politics census won’t work

National Population Commission has disclosed that those with mental retardation will be enumerated in the 2023 population and housing census.
Disclosing this in Gombe Federal Commissioner of NPC Abubakar Danburam, said the commission has allotted a time when they would be easily accessed for the headcount.
Danburam made this disclosure during the inauguration of Gombe State 2023 population and housing census publicity committee.
According to the Federal Commissioner, the headcount for the mentally retarded would be from 12am before the actual commencement date, stressing that it an active period for the category.
He said, “There is census night which is dedicated to count lunatics, they will be counted at night. It starts by 12 midnight to count those who are insane, it’s expected that they will come out around that time.”
Speaking further on the Commission’s effort to leave a credible legacy, Danburam said members are devoid of political, religious and ethnic biases, adding that they are hinged on transparent exercise.
“There is nothing like religion, politics in census, if we allow politics it won’t work. There was no politics in demarcation, no APC house, PDP house. There is no sign or traces of politics in this work and we are going to work for the Nation. I’m a politician; APC for that matter, I’m going to count PDP and his house. Every house in a Hamlet was counted,” he added.
On the credibility of the 2023 census, the Federal Commissioner said Enumeration Areas have expected results, due to its already conducted demarcation, adding that, “The demarcation was done in such a way that each household number we know those inside the house. The census is going to confirm whether there are changes but as it is we know the number of houses we only update and the census will give us the actual figure. There is no how you can change the expected population per Enumeration Area. So for each Enumeration Area there is a threshold, the expected people. The analogy time has gone.”
